Late Tuesday night I braved the frigid cold of Salt Lake to make my way to the airport. For the second time, I was on my way to visit my family in Springfield, Oregon.
I was excited to see everyone. I had mailed Christmas presents ahead of me, and my family had elected to postpone present-opening until everyone had arrived for the holidays.
I'm not one to pay extra to get good seating, so I was pleasantly surprised when my random seat ended up being at a window. While that wasn't extraordinarily exciting during the late night flight over a lot of uninhabited forests, it made take off and landing a spectacular light show: Stars both above and below.
Another bonus: my brother - who I hadn't seen in just over a year - would be joining us. He had recently returned from deployment (US Navy) and I was excited to see him... even if we would be annoying each other non-stop the entire time. My mom was probably the most excited of all of us: All of her babies (save her step-son) would be under one roof!
Of course, I had some reservations, that I tried to bury. Being around my family is always trying... I live quietly, and let's just say that there is nothing quiet about a house with two children and 5 animals (not including fish!). But I am so so happy to be here.
